Astro HW1 2c Solution

Highest Point of the Moon’s Orbit During SSP 2016

Many of you did this problem with the knowledge that the moon was full during the solstice this year. While true, this information wasn’t necessary. Since we’re already making assumptions about the inclination of the moon’s orbit out of the ecliptic (which may not be necessarily accurate), the most general approach is to pretend you nothing of the moon’s phase. This being said, knowing that SSP started on the solstice was necessary, so there is some place for real-world data.
